I’m having way too much fun with Photo Booth. Thanks to Isabella Rossellini, as well, for some brilliant inspiration. I saw her speak at the Unique Lives series last night, and was blown away – by her brilliance and humour, and irreverence. She talked about how modeling isn’t about just sitting there and being pretty. It’s conveying an emotion, creating an emotion, for other people to understand and feel. Playing in Photo Booth tonight, as I often do, this came to mind and pushed the faces to a place I hadn’t found yet.

I’m really liking this place. I think there may be a painting or two here. At least a few drawings already!

I just found that somehow, my blog listing of my heads was missing #32. Hmm… strange. couldn’t have been ’cause I wasn’t too happy with the drawing, or that it involved a very uncomfortable moment looking intently at my friend, in order to draw her – a much more personal and longer looking than is normally called for. whatever the actual reason, I can’t really remember right now, so I’m trumping my earlier self’s “forgetfulness” with a full disclosure post.

I was trying to get her to be all eyes and smiles, since she’s just so darn smiley.

here’s my post from flickr.com
She’s much prettier in real life! It was difficult to draw my friend the other night at the restaurant, mostly because I sudenly felt rude for looking at her. Even though i had asked if I could draw her. So I drew her as best as I could with looking at her as least as possible. Hence the major caricature quality. to this drawing.
